It seems that a corduroy comeback is in full force right now. So lovers of vintage style and workwear will be glad to hear that there isn’t a shortage of choices available on the high street. For me the challenge is about finding the right shapes and styles in this old school retro fabric that would suit me and my style. Now since i’ve been sticking to an indigo colour palette and wearing as much denim in one go as I can, it was easy choice to go full co-ord for this experiment. And boy was there plenty available in the latest Lee Jeans x Oi Polloi collection with pieces crafted from 8-wale hardwearing chunky corduroy, to style up in my own personal style.
On one hand, picking out the blue set is easier to style, since all you need is to add subtle elements like a cuban collared shirt and contrasting striped tee underneath, belted up with hints of black. To top this off, I chose a pair of big dad shoes, all white socks and a long handled tote bag to compliment and separate the colours a bit.
With the green corduroys, I was determined to keep my blue theme in some way and chose an oversized denim workwear jacket with matching indigo socks and paisley neckerchief. And to add texture i’ve worn a pair of two tone herringbone wool 1461 Dr Martens and matched up the grey tones with a dark grey fedora too. Now all you need for final touches are monochrome accessories. But nothing too crazy, you don’t want to overload the look with too many elements that it becomes more fancy dress than effortless workwear style.
