I’ve had my fair share of design projects in the past, from accessories to clothing to shoes but around mid last year I had been approached by leading aviation timepiece brand Avi-8 to collaborate on one of their most popular styles; the Flyboy. You could imagine… all types of ideas popped into my head. Some possible, some too farfetched to create… but away I went to design something that was simply… me. First thought was, it had to reflect my love of denim and Japanese workwear & craftsmanship so i’d designed it with that in mind. I wanted it to be an extension of how I dress and also something that compliments with denim.
The watch features a patchwork leather strap in deep indigo and blue with a slate grey dial and applied silver indexes. Oh and has a pretty darn cool exhibition see-through case back with a customized deep blue rotor powered by the acclaimed and robust mechanics of the Japanese Miyota 8215 21 jewel self-winding automatic movement system. We’ve also added an Olive Green Nato Nylon strap paying homage to the brand’s own wartime aviation roots to add a bit more versatility when styling.
launching this month, you can now buy this unique timepiece at avi-8.co.uk limited to 100 pieces.
