I’m sure i’m not the only one currently thinking about switching out my summer wardrobe for one filled with warmer more functional layers for the colder seasons ahead. For me, this is my favourite time of year because it means i’ll have more opportunities to play around with layering and of course those autumnal hues. But ultimately what you want of course is comfortability and warmth.
I’ve decided to adopt a more ivy league style for this post taking it back to simple layers and statement pieces. And what better place to find this than in Gant’s latest AW20 collection. I wanted to use mustard yellow as my colour of choice this time round starting with a classic American classic; the letterman jacket and style it with contrasting white trousers and navy embroidered shirt for a more preppy look. Gant’s version features yellow leather sleeves with a melton wool blend body and signature logo crest on the chest.
On the flip side a toasty flight jacket is always a must for the weather ahead so why not a colourful one? Remember the key is to have contrasting elements. When your look is more fancy dress than sartorial, you know you’ve gone a bit too far. Prints and embroidery definitely help to elevate boring yet simple looks so don’t be afraid to mix and match making sure there is a balance highlighting each piece and at the same time harmoniously working together to create interesting and unique styles.
