GIFT IDEAS FOR HER: CHRISTMAS EDITION
G I F T I D E A S F O R H E R
By far the most daunting thing during the Christmas period has to be the thought of scouring the city in hopes of picking up the perfect gift – and as a guy that’s even more scary when it’s for your other half. We’ve all been there – wandering the high street during our lunch break or after work – racking our brains and trying to recollect the good times you’ve had over the past year in hopes that something – anything – signals a red light. And whether you’ve been with your other half for 3 weeks or 10 years, it’s no surprise that when it comes to being good at shopping – it’s not really a well-known trait in us guys. And I can say this… I’m a guy – and this could be one of the most important things in a relationship as a bad gift could be the be all or end all – or if your partner is anything like mine – even if they didn’t like it, she’d say she does and then keep it quiet until your birthday when she can outdo you!
Now, recently Farfetch had created an interesting little gift guide to help some of us helpless men with ideas on how we could get around this obstacle and came up with some nice choices, and we thought we’d support that with a few of our own.
If you’ve been together for 3 weeks: Diptyque Mimosa Scented Candle
You’ve not been together long, so don’t go buying her clothes – because nothing says ‘controlling’ more than an overly eager beaver. And don’t spend too much or you’d risk scaring her away. We’d suggest – play it cool. A scented candle from Diptyque will do the trick.
If you’ve been together for 3 months: Cecil Beaton: The Art of the Scrapbook book
I’ve been with my Mrs for 8 years, so 3 months is like 3 weeks to me. It’s still not ok to go overboard as it’s still early days. But you’ve been with her long enough to understand her tastes, interests and passions. A girl loves to know that you’ve been listening, so show her you have by buying something thoughtful, playful or inspiring? For the girl whose loves fashion, art and design, Cecil Beaton: The Art of the Scrapbook book or a collection of books by Farfetched Curates would be wise choices.
Well done for making it to 1 year! You want to get her something nice, but not too try hard. It’s a good idea to give her something she can keep for a while. Why not try a leather wallet?
Shoes are a great choice! Girl’s best friend right? The guys at Farfetch suggested some Gucci Loafers. Which i totally agree with, but if she’s more of a trainers type of girl then a fresh pair of all whites to take her into the new year’s isn’t a bad idea too.
If you’ve been together for 10 years: Saint Laurent Collège monogram shoulder bag
After years of ‘practical’ gifts you want to show her you still care… At this point, you pretty much can’t do any wrong. But just because its been like what seems forever, doesn’t mean she’s not worth it. What do you do? Although you may think she’s got one set of arms and has a million bags, what girl doesn’t love another bag?
